I go to this night club semi-regularly. There is quite a mixture of styles that also attend. You have your punks, your metal heads, your rockabillies, your goths, your normal folk etc.

However, it is the gothic that intrigue me. They wear corsets, theatrical midevil attire, or maybe an oversized Marilyn Manson t-shirt with thick black eye liner and an upside down cross painted between their eyes. Some of those costumes -- aside from the Manson shirts -- look expensive and uncomfortalbe. They have to be admired for their ability to manage such a style and apply such make-up.

But I have a question -- more of a pet peeve. Why do most of the goths wear such hideous eye glasses? I swear approximately 40% of these people wear the ugliest glasses I have seen. Why would they go to great lengths to find the perfect latex body suit, apply the the beautiful eye make-up and the reddest lip stick, and then decide to put on their enormous oval shaped wire rims. Those eye glasses totally destroy the image. And it has bothered me for some time now.

You see, I am part of the normal folk and even I manage to wear my contact lenses to the club. And my eye glasses aren't too terribly ugly. Why can't the goths? I would rather go blind then wear some of the glasses that those goths have been known to wear. Why try so hard in one area and dismiss another area entirely? Why?

Vain. I know.
